The date of 10.27.11 instantly reached legendary status for St. Louis Cardinals baseball fans. In fact, the heroics of David Freese seem to emerge in some form at least once per day around the St. Louis area.
Every time I see highlights of Freese’s improbable, clutch, two-out, two-strike ninth-inning triple and his game-winning home run at 11:39 CT in the bottom of the 11th inning in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, I think of one thing: Texas outfielder Josh Hamilton.
Hamilton’s life story is mind-boggling, and his travails during the …

There are certain things only another parent can relate to. Such as the fact that my day yesterday started off very rough, yet was instantly saved thanks to my daughter peeing in the toilet!
This is not a typical week for my family. My daughter just began going to a child care center a few mornings a week; a place that functions more like a preschool than day care. It has been going great, but they are closed all of this week. So my daughter is home with me full time …

Notes: Better year for Morris
07/06/2007 9:26 PM ET
By Brian Doolittle / Special to MLB.com
ST. LOUIS — Giants starter Matt Morris is back in the city where he played for the first seven years of his pro career. However, he likely will not see any action in this weekend’s three-game set. Morris (7-5) drew the loss at Cincinnati on Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits in six innings. Morris’ three poorest outings in 2007 have occurred over his past four starts.
“Matt came out of Spring Training throwing really well, and …

Iguodala stepping up for Philly
In the latest NBA classic to grace this fascinating season, Washington outlasted Phoenix 144-139 in overtime last Friday. It was tied at 127 after regulation. The Suns had won 15 straight, but Gilbert Arenas‘ 54 points was too much for them to overcome. Arenas, of course, scored 60 at the Lakers on December 17th.
Arenas went 21-for-37 from the field in 48 minutes as the Wizards shot 54-for-101 as a team. Steve Nash paced the Suns with 42 points. The teams only used 15 combined players.
Not only …

He finished with 10 points and 10 assists in the Cougars’ 80-47 home victory over Illinois Tech.
SIUE (7-4) does not play again until Jan. 4, when it travels to Missouri-Rolla for a …

Arenas makes history in LA
Well, that was quite a weekend in the NBA. As owners scramble to try and fill Carmelo Anthony’s spot – not to mention J.R. Smith’s – we wish to begin with a breakdown of Sunday’s late-night masterpiece. As always, we’ll later give you a few sleepers who may be able to give you a boost during these suspensions.
Ok. If you missed the Lakers-Wizards classic, here is a rundown of what went down:
Gilbert Arenas put up 60 points on Sunday.

Jack emerging for Portland
The leather ball is coming back! After getting used to new buzzwords like ‘composite microfiber’, we have to act as if this never happened beginning January 1. If this is what the players want, I’m all for it, but the offensive numbers have been rising slightly, so this may not be a great thing. . .
As of Monday afternoon, Allen Iverson has not yet been traded. So, there is not much to really comment on except to be sure and stay tuned. Personally, I do not like …

NORTHWEST DIVISION PREVIEW
Denver Nuggets:
Carmelo Anthony averaged 26.5 points per game last season.
Stars: Carmelo Anthony will have a lot of pressure on him after his dazzling performance for the U.S. team this summer. Anthony finished very poorly last season but easily had the best of his three seasons. All of his statistics remained steady except that he shot more – and made more. He raised his field goal percent from 43 to 48 and averaged 26.5 points per game as a result. The Mellow Man should follow that up with similar …
