The simple comfort of TV and DVR
I am nearing the relaxation part of my night, and am thrilled. I’m ready to dive into the usually comforting world of television after avoiding it this entire day up to now.
No matter how well the day has gone, it is always very attractive to me to check out the night’s sports before bed. I have maintained this habit for the past 20 years or so, and am not likely to give it up anytime soon. With my multi-TV and DVR setup, I do not miss anything. It is just always a matter of how much time do I have. Can I really watch three games before bed? Well, no. But I can watch two games at once and fast forward like a professional.
Sunday night did throw me a curveball. I recorded the US-Canada gold medal game and was really sucked into this dramatic action. This was a bit unexpected, but I also thought that Canada would go up two or three goals early. So I stayed up waaay too late to see the conclusion, meaning I actually have not watched the Sunday NBA games. I suppose all DVR owners run into some guilt for either fast forwarding too much, or just recording more programming than they can realistically watch. It can be rough! With sports, everything has the the element of timeliness. So you really should not save actual games, except for maybe the next day. With my focus on finding work, house hunting and caring for my little girl during the day, I definitely need to reel in such frivolous tendencies. Except for maybe Sundays!
But, for now, let’s go Cleveland Cavaliers!
